Hannah Lipsey
Hannah completed a BA (Hons) in Fine Art in 2011 where she predominantly used acrylic on canvas, creating surreal abstract landscapes. In more recent years, she has returned to what first stimulated her interest in art, hyperrealism and to using what we all had as our first childhood art tools, a piece of paper and coloured pencils!
Hannah has always been fascinated by hyperrealism which can make the viewer wonder if what they are looking at is a piece of art or a photograph. Further to this, the way light and dark values can be as or more important than detail in creating the illusion of realism. Especially when it comes to reflective objects, the contrast between light and dark values is what gives that illusion of shine.
In her current series of reflective drawings, the reflections and what is visible within them are as important as the object choice itself. To achieve this involves taking hundreds of photos over many different days in different lightings, to get the perfect composition. Look carefully to find the tiny self-portraits hidden throughout most of her pieces!
