Alzhiemer’s Research UK charity exhibition total announced

Byard Art raises an amazing £3509.20 for Alzheimer’s Research UK

We are happy to announce a spectacular total of £3509.20 for Alzheimer’s Research UK, the UK’s leading dementia research charity.

Byard Art chose Alzheimer’s Research UK as its Charity of the Year in June 2019. The gallery staff worked hard to raise funds by hosting their annual exhibition of works inspired by Cambridge, giving 10% of any sales made to the charity as well as, selling raffle tickets and encouraging donations. We would like to thank the artists that took part, those who kindly donated raffle prizes and to the clients and members of the public who kindly made donations towards this fantastic total.

Exhibiting Artist Rob Howard kindly donated all of his proceeds to Alzheimer’s Research UK and we are thankful for his support in linking with the charity.

Jessie White, Gallery manager said:

Every year our gallery holds a charitable exhibition to help raise money for a worthy cause. This year we chose to support Alzheimer’s Research UK suggested to us by gallery artist Rob Howard.  Having experienced the effects of this disease on my family I felt very strongly about raising as much money as possible to contribute to the life changing work ARUK do to tackle the diseases that causes dementia. I was thrilled to have raised such a wonderful total thanks to all the support from our clients, artists, staff and members of the public!

The money will help to fund pioneering research, focusing on prevention, diagnosis and treatments for Alzheimer’s and other dementias. There are 850,000 people living with dementia in the UK and this number is expected to rise to over 1 million by 2025.

Holly Noon, Regional Fundraising Officer at Alzheimer’s Research UK, said:

We’re so grateful to Byard Art and Rob Howard for supporting Alzheimer’s Research UK. Dementia affects a significant proportion of the population – one in three people over 65 in the UK will die with some form of the condition. Fantastic fundraising efforts like this will help us to make life-changing research breakthroughs for people with dementia.
