Vicky Yates
Vicky came upon ceramic sculpture rather late in life, having had a unrelated professional background in the NHS. During her training, she attended courses run by outstanding professional sculptors such as Brendan Hesmondhalgh, Annie Peaker, Lorri Aucott, Beth Cavener Sticher, and Paul Priest.
Vicky is fascinated by hares and many other wild animals she has seen both in the Cumbrian countryside and on safaris whilst working in Tanzania. The artist usually works in stoneware so the sculptures can be safely left outside. She decorates her work with oxides and underglazes and occasionally gold leaf.
