Sophie Alice Wiltshire

Sophie’s ceramic animals are entirely hand-modelled and painted from scratch, making each completely unique, and each taking on a life of its own. She is inspired by 1950s children’s book illustrations of the natural world and aims to reflect in her work her own excitement and interest in the natural world. Animals created range from pandas to pangolins, with the extinct dodo thrown in for good measure! Sophie completed her BA at Bath Spa University, and she now works on her ceramics from her studio in Winchester, having finished a Ceramics MA at the RCA. She has a keen interest in mid-20th-century illustration, history, and the natural world. Sophie is also a member of the London Print Studio and works there regularly on her screen prints and dry point etchings.
