Bio
“I make linocuts inspired by the Suffolk countryside and coastline. My designs evolve from observational drawings and paintings and from my own photography. After making an observational sketch I make a
design, planning the size and shape, and deciding on colours and the order of the passes. I enjoy exploiting a wide range of cutting patterns and creatively exaggerating the shapes of the elements of the landscape.
My recent work is inspired by Minsmere, specifically in the diversity of habitat, the birds that visit and how the landscape changes through the seasons. In my prints, I am interested in exploring mark-making,
experimental techniques and how multiple layers interact. My aim through my linocuts is to depict the spirit of the landscape whilst celebrating and exploring the natural qualities of linocut.”
