History
Following his MA, Ken Eardley established his first studio in London. He later moved to Brighton, where he is now based and has developed a distinctive range of functional ceramics. His work has been featured in a number of publications, including the Guardian magazine, highlighting his unique graphic style.
Style & Technique
Eardley creates a distinctly fun and graphic range of functional ceramics for kitchens and interiors, including vases, jugs, mugs, and bowls. His pieces are hand-built using slabs of earthenware clay. After a bisque firing, they are decorated using hand-cut stencils and underglaze colours.
The resulting style is defined by his textile background, featuring a bold colour palette and the repetition of familiar, brightly coloured graphic patterns such as spots, circles, and lines.
