Byard Art is located at 14 King’s Parade, directly opposite King’s College Chapel, in the historic centre of Cambridge. We are amongst a host of cultural delights you will find in this city, one of the world’s most respected academic environments.
Cambridge has good public transport links, including regular trains to and from London’s King Cross (48 minutes) and Liverpool Street, Norwich, King’s Lynn and Peterborough. The gallery is a 5-minute walk from city centre bus stops; and a 20-minute walk from Cambridge Station (alternatively, there are frequent bus transfers from the station to the city centre). For more detailed directions please contact us.
Cambridge is a cycle friendly city. There are two bike racks directly outside the gallery, please use them!
From 9:30 to 7 pm every day King’s Parade is closed to vehicles. The nearest car-park is at Grand Arcade, Corn Exchange Street CB2 3QJ. There are loading bays close to the gallery, at Peas Hill all day (directly beside the Arts Theatre) and on the Market Square after 4 pm. Both spots are marked in pink on the map below. We have a trolley and willing staff on hand for all deliveries and collections.
Byard Art first opened in 1993 in Nottingham’s Byard Lane, on the top floor of a Victorian Lace Factory. A commercial gallery, specialised in contemporary visual and applied arts. The relocation to Cambridge in 1998 allowed the business to expand into the corporate and public sectors.
In September of 1998, Byard Art moved into a gallery space in central Cambridge on St Mary’s Passage which provided a permanent showcase for gallery artists’ original artwork.
During this time Byard developed an international reputation, supporting a regular exhibition programme as well as participating in major art fairs, including Art London (Chelsea), The London Art Fair (Islington) and the Affordable Art Fair Spring & Autumn. Byard has also exhibited in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dublin, Newcastle and Bristol as well as regularly showing at the Affordable Art Fair in New York, Amsterdam, Brussels, Milan and Hong Kong.
Our committed and knowledgeable staff are experienced in organising and participating in art fairs and have a strong desire to expand into the rest of Europe.
During the summer of 2009 Byard Art moved to bigger premises on King’s Parade, directly opposite King’s College. The gallery now encompasses 1,200 square feet of exhibition space over two floors and is pleased to be able to host not only a rolling exhibition programme but also a permanent collection of gallery artists.
