This August, we’re doing something a little different, and we want you to be part of it!
Byard Art is proud to launch “Selfie with Art: Be an Art Advocate”, a summer campaign that celebrates the vibrant voices of contemporary artists while spotlighting the vital role independent galleries like ours play in keeping art accessible, diverse, and alive.
At its heart, this campaign is a tribute to the artists who challenge, comfort, and captivate us, and to the community who supports them. Whether you’re a seasoned collector, a first-time visitor, or just passing through King’s Parade, we’re inviting you to stop by, snap a moment, and help amplify the art you love.
Why We’re Launching This
In a world increasingly dominated by algorithms, mass media and big-name institutions, it’s easy for emerging artists, and the galleries that support them, to get drowned out. At Byard Art, we’ve been committed for over 25 years to curating collections that reflect artistic originality, personal storytelling, and creative risk.
This campaign isn’t just a fun way to engage with art. It’s a call to action. A reminder that your voice, your presence, and your participation make a difference in helping art thrive outside the mainstream.
How to Take Part
We’ve made it as simple (and impactful) as possible:
- Visit Byard Art
Step inside our gallery at 14 King’s Parade in Cambridge and explore the latest exhibitions on display. Our Mixed Summer Exhibition 2025 is currently in full swing, featuring a brilliant blend of new and returning artists, including the likes of Emma Dunbar, Fletcher Prentice, Maureen Mace and Sara Giacomini.
- 2Snap a Selfie
Find a piece that speaks to you – it could be a ceramic sculpture, a striking canvas, or something more subtle. Then take a selfie with it. Capture the connection. Be spontaneous or styled — it’s entirely up to you.
- Share It on Social Media
Post your photo using the hashtag #ArtAdvocate and tag @ByardArt and the artist if you know their handle. Whether it’s Instagram, Threads, X or Facebook, every share helps the artist behind the work reach a new audience.
Why It Matters
When you post your selfie, you’re doing more than sharing a photo, you’re shining a spotlight on original artists and the often-unsung galleries that support them. You’re helping to normalise gallery visits for new audiences, encouraging real-world cultural experiences, and injecting warmth and visibility into the creative community.
Your participation says something: that art matters, and that independent galleries are essential spaces where voices can be heard and visions can be shared.
