As Cambridge settles into the warmth and energy of summer, the gallery windows at Byard Art once again come alive with colour. Our Mixed Summer Exhibition 2025, running from July 5th to September 7th, brings together an exciting range of work that captures the season’s energy and imagination.
Whether you’re a long-time collector or visiting Cambridge for the first time, this annual exhibition is your chance to explore the full breadth of what Byard Art has to offer. From established favourites to fresh new names, it’s a rich, diverse display of some of the finest contemporary artwork available in the UK today.
A Celebration of Artistic Range
This year’s exhibition highlights the creative range of the Byard family. Many of the featured artists have shown with us for years, building a loyal following. Others are brand new, bringing bold ideas, fresh styles, and compelling new stories to our walls.
Step inside the gallery and you’ll find painting, mixed media, sculpture and more, with styles ranging from delicate surrealism to rich, joyful impressionism. Here’s a closer look at just a few of the incredible artists featured this year:
Emma Dunbar
Emma’s work is instantly recognisable – full of joy, pattern and vibrant colour. Her paintings are inspired by her surroundings: the English countryside, holidays abroad, and the small, beautiful moments of domestic life. Each composition is layered with flattened perspective, decorative detail and blocky shapes, creating a modern take on folk art that’s both grounded and whimsical.
- Frequent use of reds, ochres, and blues creates a warm, celebratory mood
- Subjects often include flowers, ceramics, animals and fruit, all painted with affection
- Her distinctive style makes her pieces perfect for collectors seeking uplifting, narrative-driven art

Fletcher Prentice
Fletcher’s work is a celebration of the natural world in full bloom. His canvases burst with energy: birds in mid-flight, flowers cascading in every direction, and layered textures that suggest gardens full of life.
- Loose brushwork and soft abstraction allow movement and colour to take centre stage
- Paintings often feature dark backgrounds, creating a glowing contrast that draws you in
- Ideal for nature lovers and collectors looking for large-scale work with immediate visual impact

Maureen Mace
Maureen’s paintings bring medieval charm and a sense of otherworldliness to modern-day Cambridge. Her imaginative cityscapes, floating trees and celestial skies create a unique blend of familiar and fantastical.
- Inspired by illuminated manuscripts and stained glass
- Scenes include famous Cambridge landmarks reimagined with surreal elements
- Her pieces are richly detailed, often containing small narratives hidden within each canvas

Sara Giacomini
Sara works at the intersection of photography and digital manipulation, creating mixed media pieces that feel both ancient and futuristic. Her images often begin as black-and-white photographs, which she then transforms with layered textures, colour washes and hand-finished details.
- Work often explores memory, time, and emotion through symbolism and abstract layering
- Blurs the boundary between fine art photography and contemporary collage
- Striking pieces that draw the viewer in to contemplate both visual beauty and deeper themes
