Mark Upton

Mark was born in Penzance, Cornwall and studied sculpture at Loughborough University. Upon graduating, Mark won the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Grant to study bronze casting at the Le Blanc Fine Art Foundry.
The experience gained during his time there enabled Mark to become a sculptor in his own right, culminating in a variety of commissions as well as exhibiting work extensively across the UK.
Mark works mainly from the figure and draws inspiration from nature and ancient cultures. He states:
“Bronze is my preferred media due to its tactile qualities and the aura of permanence it portrays. It encompasses thousands of years of history and is a technique that has changed very little to this day”.
