Kirsten’s work is socially engaged and made in close conversation with a specific context, issue, group or location. She is interested in making art that infiltrates everyday life, provokes curiosity, inspires engagement and challenges preconceptions about what an ‘art experience’ might be or mean. Outcomes are wilfully diverse, often involving collaboration with other artists or multiple participants, they could be an event, a performance, a magazine, a drawing, an installation, a walk, or the formation of a community group. An ongoing series of drawings meditating on the possibilities of error. Drawings begin with a perfect circle revealing themselves through her repeated attempts to perfectly follow the previous line. The pens or pencils used are determined by each drawing’s meditation.
