Kim Langford’s paintings are a response to the natural world. Each piece is an amalgamation of the places she has visited. Most years she takes trips to Devon, but is drawn anywhere she can find the sea. Kim wants her work to encourage a sense of peace and calm in her viewers, the same emotions she has when close to the ocean.
Kim makes in-situ watercolour sketches and takes photographs that are used as inspiration for her larger scale works. She collects memorabilia, in particular china jugs, and enjoys adding them into her scenes to create a sense of scale and distance. She sees her works as windows that look out onto the story beyond.
