Born in 1967, Kim Bramley has worked internationally as a freelance textile designer since 1999, specialising in and developing new techniques in kiln-formed glass. After her studies at the Werk-Kuntschule, Germany, Kim trained in Fashion and Textile Design at St. Martin’s School of Art, graduating in 1992. For the next nine years she worked from her studio on the remote Isle of Skye in Scotland, later partaking in a residency at the Glass Co-Operative Studio in Borlange Glas Verkstad, Sweden. She went on to work as Assistant to the Swedish glass artist Ingelena Klenell in 2006, and has worked with Sami glass artist Monica Edmondson in Lapland. Kim’s unique style and exquisite technique led her to be approached in 2005 to design the pieces for the ‘Scottish Arts and Business Awards.’ She currently works from her ‘Heart of England’ studio in Staffordshire, regularly exhibiting her work and receiving architectural commissions in fused glass.
