Joceline Wickham trained at the Royal Academy in the 1970s. In the 1990s she went on to train in Art Therapy, but has kept painting consistently throughout her career.
Joceline works in oil, painting onto wood panel- a traditional technique that sits well with her Dutch still life inspired work. Her small and detailed paintings highlight an occupation with looking closely at the ordinary. Sometimes these objects have a particular meaning or significance, but often it is only the aesthetics that appeal to her. By painting the familiar with such sincerity, the artist hopes to create scenes that are more than just a realistic portrayal of their subject matter.
Joceline now lives and works in Norwich. She is part of the Norwich 20 and exhibits with them regularly, as well as showing work in galleries all over the UK.
