Yorkshire artist, Debbie Sutcliffe, spent many years drawing from life before turning to printmaking to express her love of line and the human figure. ‘My work is an exploration of the strength and beauty of line. When working out a design I try to distill what I see and feel into as few lines as possible. Then I look again to see which lines I can do without. Finally, I engrave the most beautiful, revealing, expressive lines I can. A single line or a single colour absorbs me far more than a multitude.’
Debbie’s work was selected for the inaugural Royal Society of Painter-Printmaker’s Masters Exhibition in 2015; she exhibits regularly with the Society of Wood Engravers; and she has had sell-out shows in the Royal Academy’s Summer Exhibition.
