Bio
Claire creates poetic and invented landscapes using a photomontage approach in Photoshop, digitally layering original photographic details to create new scenes which are often inspired by seascapes and landscapes.
Photography, for her is a way of connecting with the world. She captures places on walks or trips to the coast, paying particular attention to found surface textures and incidental marks seen in the environment. She then uses these as colourful marks and collage elements to build the landscapes in her work.
Claire’s work sits visually between photography and painting but, she is always trying to reach a quiet reflective space within it, hoping that the viewer can do the same. Claire trained in Textile design at Central Saint Martins and The Royal College of Art.
